Elizabeth held the position for 19 years from 1997, after she took on the role when previous president, Pastor Lance Jackson was transferred to inland NSW.
Previously, Elizabeth was secretary from 1989 to 1997.
Nigel Harman holds the position of vice president again, Helen Duggan is secretary and Suzanne Roach the treasurer.
Other committee members are Rob Fisher Elizabeth Fisher, MaryAnn Vogt, Heather Harman and Roz Dreise.
Marea Binskin stepped down after many years on the committee.
At the meeting, Elizabeth Fisher handed over an oxygen concentrator cylinder to the palliative care sisters, Robyn Mackintosh and Trish Lowe.
They were very appreciative of the funds raised by the Great Lakes Hospice Auxiliary to purchase this item.
During the year the Hospice provided ongoing financial help to many palliative care patients who have opted to remain in their own homes.
Hospice provided a SAM mattress and four overlays at a total cost of about $4000. The mattress helps prevent bed sores.
Two scholarships at a cost of $1100 each were made possible for RNs to obtain a certificate in palliative care nursing.
The course will be held at Calvary Mater Hospital’s Newcastle campus early this year.
A one day course for AINs and ENs run by HearthCare in March is being subsidised by Great Lakes Hospice.
A course for carers, volunteers and community members is to be run in Forster by HearthCare on Friday, March 16 at a cost of $25 per person.
