Theme your tents and yourself and get ready for Great Lakes Relay For Life, which is fast approaching.
Running across two days – Saturday, March 24 to Sunday March 25 – this year’s event will be held at Peter Barclay Sporting Fields, Tuncurry, from at 10am.
The Great Lakes Relay For Life’s dedicated and enthusiastic working group has been working feverishly organising this exciting event.
Club Forster has sponsored the relay providing $1500 towards the event.
“We encourage everyone – sporting groups, businesses, schools and families – to get involved with the relay, Cancer Council community relations co-ordinator (Lower Mid North Coast, Katie Mead, said.
“There’s still time to join in and form a team and help Cancer Council with its mission of a cancer-free future for everyone.”
Members of the teams will take turns to walk, skip or run around the sporting field, bringing hope to those going through a cancer diagnosis, celebrating those who are still with us, and remembering those who have died.
Relay is also a social, fun event with a carnival atmosphere.
There will be healthy smoothie demonstrations, bands and wall-to-wall entertainment throughout the whole event keeping everyone on their toes.
Even their energy levels will be sustained with a variety of scrumptious foods.
There will be drumming demonstrations, a fashion parade, massages from Jennifer’s Remedial Massage, a jumping castle and kids activities.
And of course, you can’t miss the ‘Miss Relay’ competition where men dress up in their best women’s outfits and are judged on their ‘beautiful’ appearance.
There are fantastic prizes to be won for best decorated site, the Spirit of Relay award for someone who shows the true spirit of relay throughout the event and a range of other activities.
You can find out more about the Relay and register your team at www.relayforlife.org.au/greatlakes or by phoning Katie Mead on 6659 8403.
