Monday, February 13, 2pm:
A grass fire is currently burning at Wallis Island Main Trail, Wallis Lake, sending plumes of smoke across the Great Lakes area.
The fire was listed as burning out of control at 1.44pm on Monday (February 12).
The Rural Fire Service listed the blaze on their website at an advice level.
An “advice” listing means that a fire has started, and there is no immediate danger.
The RFS website warns residents in the area to stay up to date in case the situation changes.
“Remember – don't wait for a warning. Some fires start and spread so quickly there may not be any time for a warning. If you get a Bush Fire Alert, you must take it seriously.”
