The Manning Hospital this week welcomed a second medical oncologist, Giovana Celli Marchett to the team.
As a staff specialist, Dr Marchett will complement the care already being provided by the hospital’s current medical oncologist, Edward Livshin.
Before moving to Manning Hospital Dr Marchett had worked at Calvary Mater Newcastle as a medical oncology advanced trainee since August 2015.
Previously she worked at Port Macquarie Base Hospital and Nambour General Hospital where she was a basic physician trainee.
Dr Marchett graduated from the University of Caxais Do Sul in Brazil in 2005 with a Doctor of Medicine, completing her internship and training throughout various hospitals in Brazil and the United States.
“Dr Marchett’s appointment will help improve access to specialist cancer care for people in the Manning and Great Lakes area,” Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead said.
“Having another locally based medical oncologist on staff will also ensure continuous service provision during times when Dr Livshin is on leave.”
