
Manning Great Lakes Local Area Command (LAC) is appealing to members of the public who witnessed a fatal accident at Old Bar yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, January 30) or the events leading up to the crash to contact them.
That includes anyone who saw or spoke to the driver of a blue Ford Falcon which hit a pole in a supermarket car park on Old Bar Road, Old Bar, earlier in the day.
As a result of the crash on Old Bar Road, a 19-year-old Old Bar woman has died.
About 7.20pm, the woman was travelling east in a Mazda 2, while at the same time a 40-year-old woman was travelling west in a Ford Falcon when the two vehicles collided.
Following the collision the 40-year-old woman was ejected from the vehicle, while the teenager was trapped inside the vehicle until rescue officers arrived.
The 19-year-old was transported to John Hunter Hospital by helicopter in a critical condition, but later died.
The 40-year-old woman also was transported to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but not life threatening condition, suffering injuries to her hip, ankle and rib.
She has undergone mandatory blood and alcohol tests.
Crash investigators attended the scene and are investigating the incident.
