One-time Tuncurry resident, Ron Mitchell is proud to say he’ll soon be 100 years young.
He celebrated the milestone ahead of his official Friday, February 2 birthday with family, friends and Estia Health, Taree staff on January 25.
Before moving to the Great Lakes three decades ago, Ron spent his professional career in the printing industry and driving taxis, and served his country during World War II driving trucks.
Son John was proud of his dad’s ability to keep doing the things he loved right into his 90s, such as driving, until he moved into Estia Place four years ago.
“He also enjoyed swimming at Tuncurry,” John said.
John said his dad had been a good influence on his life.
“He brought me up well,” John said.
“He’s always helped his family.”
When asked what the secret was to his longevity, John said his dad kept to a good and strict diet.
Ron received plenty of well wishes from family and friends, including a card sent from his brother in New Zealand.
