Mid North Coast Zone executive officer, Bob Wilson, has informed clubs in this season’s rugby union competitions senior players selected for the Axemen’s squad for the NSW Country championship will be deemed unavailable for their clubs in round two of the Kennards Hire premiership.
The players will be required to attend a weekend camp for a game against Central North in Tamworth on April 14-15, its importance being that it is only a fortnight before the NSW Country championships.
”As you are probably aware the MNCRU seniors have been promoted to the first division of the NSW Country Championships after winning the Richardson Shield last year for the first time in the history of the zone,” Mr Wilson said.
“The coach and his staff must give the team the very best preparation they can in sometimes very difficult circumstances. It is very hard to assemble all players together all the time.
“As it is it will be a very hard battle in the top division and it would be good if all clubs support the MNCRU representative program.”
The Axemen returned to the top tier of Country rugby union after almost two decades of defeat overcoming Far North Coast in an exhausting Richardson Shield final, in Port Macquarie early last year.
