Margaret has willingly given long hours to provide respite activities, speakers and information days for carers and many more activities.
“”I am completely gobsmacked by this,” Margaret said.
“Receiving this award is totally unexpected, I thought it was just such an honour to be nominated. I’ve been trying to guess all week who might win, but I really never thought it would be me.
It’s so good to have the work we do recognised. We held four major activities last year, including a family fun day, a music festival, a ladies pamper day and a doubles challenge for the men.
“We also organised more than 200 presents for young carers, and threw a Christmas party for more than 40 people. It was a big year and it’s great for the group to get this recognition.
MidCoast Council named Margaret the winner of the award at a ceremony held in Forster today.
MidCoast Council mayor, David West said all the community members display great talent and love of their communities.
“I thank them on behalf of us all,” he said.
"We are proud of the achievements of every single nominee across the Gloucester, Great Lakes and Manning regions and congratulate them.”
