The proposal was approved at MidCoast Council’s most recent development control unit meeting, which took place at Forster Council Chambers in December.
Mr Gavin Maberly-Smith addressed council in support of the application.
The plan for the development is a five storey building, with 20 residential units and a basement car park for 46 vehicles.
The proposal sought consent to demolish the existing buildings on the three property lots located at 1 Taree Street, 3 Taree Street and 1 Peel Street.
The new development will be a residential flat building with commercial space at the ground floor level.
The development application also sought a variation to the maximum height and floor space ratio standards applying to the site.
