Being the first female publisher of a major American newspaper, Katharine Graham (Meryl Streep), with help from editor Ben Bradlee (Tom Hanks), is desperate for a big story to turn things around for The Post when the Pentagon Papers – top secret documents swiped by a whistleblower that detail the government’s private and deceptive pessimism about the Vietnam War, literally fall into The Post’s lap.
Suddenly The Post is sitting on hundreds of pages of sensitive documents. Together Graham and Bradlee must overcome their differences as they risk their careers and freedom to help bring long buried truths to light by exposing the massive cover-up of government secrets that spanned three decades.
