My first experience with Suzuki was my first bike, a Suzuki GT380.
I also owned a Holden Barina which was a rebadged Suzuki Swift.
My experiences with Suzuki both two and four wheels have been positive.
My initial opinion of the S Cross was also very positive. After a week and 1000ks that has been reinforced.
The Suzuki S Cross Turbo Prestige is powered by a four cylinder turbo petrol engine of 1373cc putting out 103Kws (138bhp) and 220Nm of torque. The car returned a very respectable 5.7l/100ks (47.4mpg).
Safety is always something I look at early in a test. The S Cross earned a five star rating back in 2013 with a score of 35.3/37.
Safety inclusions are seven airbags, ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution, stability control, traction control, hill hold assist, hill descent control and a reversing camera with a fixed grid.
The car doesn't get more advanced safety technology such as autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitor, lane departure warning or rear cross traffic alert. Cruise control is not adaptive.
Creature comforts in the top of the line Prestige include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, a touchscreen with sat nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system, proximity unlocking and ignition button, and leather accented seats.
On the road this is a fun car to drive. Acceleration is brisk. You can play F1 racer with the paddle gearshift. Handling is stable and predicable, brakes as you would expect are excellent.
I started off this report by saying Suzuki built excellent motorcycles. Well that ability transferred to its cars is certainly evident in this little S Cross Turbo Prestige. Drive away price as tested $29990. My rating 7.75/10.
