Riley, who recently completed year seven at St Claires, has been selected to play in the FFA National Futsal Championships in early 2018.
Riley’s father Justin Van Haren couldn’t be prouder of his son chasing his dreams.
“Riley’s love for football was present from the minute he could walk,” he said.
“He represented the Emerging Jets, Northern NSW Football from the age of eight, and has played with Football Mid North Coast at a representative level in the Skill Acquisition Program (SAP) for the past three years.
“Riley has also been selected in the Football Mid North Coast National Premier League u/13’s side for 2018.”
The tour commences on January 7, and will be the 37th FFA National Futsal Championship, taking place at the Australian Institute of Sport at the University of Canberra.
Riley is representing NSW Country North (Northern NSW) U12 years boys side, who have their first game against Western Australia on Monday, January 8.
Riley was selected for the team after travelling to Newcastle for a trial, before being invited to take up a spot by Football Mid North Coast.
While Riley’s first love and priority is soccer, he participates in a wide range of sports.
Earlier in the year he attended the NSWCCC Athletics Championships, participating in both the 800 metre event and the 1500 metre event.
