The Lower Mid North Coast Rugby Union women’s sevens competition will kick off with a gala day at Aub Ferris Oval on December 16.

Teams from Old Bar, Wauchope, Taree, Gloucester and Wallamba will battle it out for bragging rights, with the first game of the competition to kick off at 12.30 pm.
The day promises to have a festive atmosphere, with the Wallamba Bulls mascot T-Bone to hand out surprises for the children as well as jumping castles and some of the best steak sandwiches on the Lower Mid North Coast.
The teams have been training for about three months, with Bulls coach Lee Sullivan spearheading group coaching with the assistance of the NSW Rugby Union Development Officers.
They have regularly travelled to Nabiac and Forster to run intensive training sessions to give the teams the skills needed to play the fastest growing game in Australia.
The women’s sevens version of the game rose to prominence after the Rio Olympics in which Australia secured a gold medal and inspired tens of thousands of woman to pull on the boots and learn the skills that one day may just take them to the Olympics.
The game requires agility, speed and focus with all three to be on display this weekend as some of the best female players from the Lower Mid North Coast take to the paddock.
Gates will open at 11 am with canteen and bar services available.
