Lakes captain Nick Montague lost the toss and Taree West decided to bat.
Taree got off to a flying start before Jack Howard bowled a maiden over to frustrate the batters.
Alan Thomas on the next over capitalised and took a wicket in his second over.
Three balls later Cameron Thies swooped on the ball and had it back to keeper Todd Harris to run out Taree West start player Adam McCloud for a diamond duck to have them 2/13.
Jack Galbraith had the other opener caught by Cam Theis who was on fire in the field.
Seb Strong and Alan May came on together and form a lethal bowling partnership with Strong bowling 2/34 off his eight overs and May was 3/21 off his eight overs.
Captain Nick Montague then picked off the remaining batters to be 2/5 off only 1.3 overs and importantly taking the wicket of Taree’s Mal Yarnold who had hung around for 20 overs.
Taree’s final score was 10/123 off 30.3 overs.
Lakes took the field as the wind picked up to near gale force conditions.
The seasoned pair of Matt Solway and Cam Thies took up their positions in the middle against the Taree openers bowlers.
Cam Thies was first to depart.
Matt Solway continued to club the ball around the field before leaving at 2/21. Jack Galbraith and Alan May were tentative at the crease, being well tied down but did their job and saw both the opening bowlers off before Galbraith left at 3/27 and then May at 4/47.
That brought young Brad Solway to the crease and together with Todd Harris put on 23 valuable runs for the fifth wicket.
Brad was determined to show how it was done playing shots to all parts of the field.
Todd Harris took a couple of nasty balls on the body but nothing seemed to phase him before he left at 5/70.
That brought Captain Monty to the crease and together with Brad Solway they put on 56 runs to steal the match from Taree.
Monty was like lightning, running his singles before his hamstring went.
He refused a runner and soldiered on to continue to run twos with young Brad Solway.
Monty finished on 29 not out off 30 balls whilst Brad finished at 35 not out off 60 balls.
It was another team effort but the Solway family certainly brought their “A” game to have a huge impact on the outcome of the game.
Next week Lakes C Grade host Taree United at Lake Street and B Grade host Old Bar at South Street.
