For pet owners who hold a government pension, concession or healthcare card, a subsidised deal is on offer, with cats costing $50, and dogs costing $60 for the procedure.
Veterinarians recommend desexing to prevent unwanted pregnancies in females.
Pets can be desexed at any age from six weeks old, although most pets undergo the procedure at around six months of age.
They can also undergo the operation during their mature years.
Applications to take part in the drive can be lodged until November 26.
You can download the application form from http://www.awlnsw.com.au/great-lakes.html, or email greatlakes@awlnsw.com.au, or call Marg on 0408 670 757 to book the procedure.
