On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 13 police responded to a complaint from motorist about the way a Mercedes van was being driven along The Lakes Way at Tuncurry.
Police will be alleged the van had travelled onto the wrong side of the road and narrowly avoided a number of collisions.
Highway patrol police found the van on the side of the road in Manning Street.
The driver was asleep at the wheel.
A roadside breath test returned a positive result and a subsequent breath analysis at Forster Police Station returned an alleged reading of 0.303.
The 47-year-old Toongabbie man was charged with driving with a high range PCA and his licence was suspended.
