The project is supported by a number of community groups including Bulahdelah Lions, the chamber of commerce, police, Visitors Information Centre, shows society and the Karuah Local Aboriginal Land Council. In developing a design, MidCoast Council plans to work closely with local young people and will be running a number of consultations in the coming months to gather their ideas.
Bulahdelah Central School’s deputy principal, Deb Gilbert said the first of these was an on-site visit, where young people were invited to come along to explore the site, hear presentations from stakeholders and help decide the exact location of the facility.
“While there, we got the young people to vote on the type of elements they would like to see in the skate park.”
