Thieves have targeted wallets, handbags, cash, jewellery and have used victim’s car keys to steal motor vehicles.
Manning Great Lakes crime prevention officer, Senior Constable Ray Slade, advised residents to secure valuables such as cash, wallets and car keys while at home, and be aware of any suspicious activity.
“Thieves usually steal items like mobile phones, cash, jewellery and car keys,” he said.
“People should take steps to store these items securely, or at least store them out of sight.
“As thieves usually gain entry by forcing a window or doors, it’s also a good idea to conduct a brief check of your doors and windows to ensure they are secure.
“It may sound obvious, but always remember to lock your home and car, and ensure all the windows and doors are secure, even when you are at home.
If you have been the victim of a break and enter offence or have any information in relation to recent break, enter and steal offences in the area or anyone noticing suspicious activity, are asked to report it to police.
