A man who survived rolling his car off the Pacific Highway this morning was killed when he hit by a truck as he chased his dog across the road.

The tragedy unfolded near Karuah about 5am.
Police believe the man, aged in his 20s, was driving a white sedan which left the highway and rolled.
He escaped from the wreckage but, as he tried to round up his dog which was on the road, was struck and killed by a southbound van.
The man died at the scene.
Another southbound ute then hit another vehicle which had stopped to offer assistance.
The van driver was taken to hospital suffering from shock, a female driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries and the dog was taken to a nearby vet for treatment.
Crash Unit Investigation officers are leading inquiries and have asked anyone who saw the incident, and who hasn’t already spoken to police, to contact Port Stephens Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
