About 1pm on Friday emergency services responded to a bushfire on the eastern side of Lakes Way. The fire jumped the road and continued to burn into further bushland causing a large amount of smoke on the roadway.
A number of roads were closed including Green Point Drive, which isolated the township of Green Point.
NSW Rural Fire Service managed to control the fire about 8.30pm, and a short time later police escorted locals back to Green Point.
All roads have now been reopened.
