MidCoast Council's manager of libraries, Chris Jones said we've seen a growing interest from the community in healthier and more sustainable living practices.

"Bringing in local experts to share their knowledge and experiences is a great way to help people improve their own health, and the health of our environment.”

Nutritionist Lydia Irving will inspire participants to reconnect with their guts, demonstrating how to make digestible ferments, including sourdough, at home.

She'll share her secrets about foods that can damage the gut and others that heal it, and how to prepare food for optimal digestion.

Chelsea Hands is a gardening enthusiast with a focus on self-sufficiency. 

Driven by a desire to minimise harm to the natural environment, she has developed a range of creative solutions for living a more sustainable life.

She'll demonstrate how to make, use and care for your bees wax wraps.

"The passion and expertise of both our presenters will inspire those attending to make positive changes to their daily lives," Chris added. 

The self sustaining skills demonstration will run from 2pm - 5pm, and participants’ $30 registration fee will include the demonstration, a healthy and delicious afternoon tea, and starter kits for making both sourdough and bees wax bags.
