Great Lakes junior cricketer Braith Piper had the honour of being a flag bearer for Australia’s women’s One Day International (ODI) match against England in Coffs Harbour.

Braith carried the English flag for the first innings and then the Australian flag for the second innings.

“It was a great honour and a once in a life time experience,” Braith said.

“What an experience it was, I was so lucky.”

The opportunity arose from a competition held by Cricket Australia, where entrants had to name their favourite female cricket player and explain why in 25 words.

Braith chose Ellyse Perry because she is such a talented sportswoman and has represented Australia in both cricket and soccer.

“It was a fantastic opportunity,” Braith’s father Andrew said.

“He was so excited to have the chance to be a part of the event, he loved it, had an absolute ball.”
