Hayden finished in nine hours, 35 minutes and 19 seconds to finish 37th in the male 35 to 39 years division and 165th overall.
Despite battling a shoulder injury before the race, Bob was the 12th fastest in the 70 to 74 year male division in 15 hours, 17 minutes and 46 seconds. He finished 2081st overall.
More than 2200 competitors took to a course that included a 3.8 kilometre swim, 180 kilometre bike ride and a 42 kilometre run.
Meanwhile, Oxley Island’s Troy Croker completed the event in 12 hours, 58 minutes and 46 seconds.
Croker, 40, was contesting the 40-44 years division.
He clocked one hour 7.8 for the 3.8km swim, five hours 42.33 for the 180km bike and five hours 42.33 for the 42.2km run.
Croker was 231st in his age category and 1756th overall.
Croker has now completed 14 ironman races, although this was his debut in the world championship.
German Patrick Lange was first across the line, clocking a record eight hours, one minute and 40 seconds.
This broke the previous best time set in 2011 by Australian Craig Alexander.
