The event, which will be held at the Great Lakes Sailing Club, Forster, has attracted 25 competitors and will offer a range of prizes across the two-days.
“There is a great vibe about kicking the season off at Foster and everyone is looking forward to it,” Marmong Point Sailing Club president, Byron Mcilveen said.
Mcilveen said the Great Lakes community has shown great support for the event.
“It has been truly amazing how much the community has got behind this event with many giving away some prizes that will be given out as lucky door prizes to encourage more entrants to participate and promote the local businesses on multiple platforms,” he said.
French sailor, Max Gaubert will be one of the leading contenders after recently taking out the Australia Slalom titles.
Mcilveen also believed Steve Walsh, Remi Dunoyer and Justin Lord would be top contenders.
Locals, Chris Kelleman, Gabe Kelleman and Aaron Constable, also will compete.
Byron will compete as well as he is the defending State series champion.
Other rounds will be contested in Sydney and Lake Macquarie as well as a return to Myall Lakes for round three and the State slalom titles.
