The six-day event is dedicated to raising community awareness about current and future water issues and to encourage the community to take action to protect this vital resource.
During the week MidCoast Water Services will be out and about in the community as part of celebrations aim to raise awareness about the importance of water in our daily lives.
“As a community we are particularly fortunate to have good quality water and a reliable supply of drinking water," MidCoast Council water services director, Brendan Guiney said.
“However, we are always mindful of ensuring our practices are sustainable to ensure future generations will also have an ability to meet their water needs,” Mr Guiney said.
As part of local Water Week celebrations MidCoast Water Services will be opening the doors at its main water treatment plant during October to allow members of the community a chance to learn more about their water supply.

The Bootawa Water Treatment Plant and MidCoast Council’s laboratory will open to the public at 10am on Wednesday, October 25.
Bookings for the tour are essential as numbers are limited. Bookings can be made by calling 6592 4813.
MidCoast Water Services mascot, Whizzy the Waterdrop, is visiting preschools and community events as part of the Water Week program.
He is also entertaining children at library storytime events across the region.
Primary school students have been busy with colouring-in competitions, with more than 1000 entries received from across the service area.
