Tuncurry fire 2017: An early sign of summer

As if we needed reminding summer was around the corner, the fire season roared to life in ominous fashion – midway through September.

More than 1800 hectares has been burnt in the Aerodrome Lakes Way bush fire, Tuncurry and Nabiac since it began more than a week ago, while an extra 483 hectares has been burnt in Bulahdelah.

Backburning has continued near the Tuncurry golf course but fire agencies continue to encourage vigilance and preparedness.
