As they celebrate a lifetime of love, joy and memories, Fred and Pat Merrick are the epitome of true happiness to their children Vicki, Steven, Michiel and Shane, their partners, and their eight adoring grandchildren.
Growing up mere suburbs apart in Sydney, Fred and Pat met as teenagers at St Michael’s Ball in Parramatta. They were married at All Saints Anglican Church in Parramatta on September 14, 1957, 60 years ago.
Fred worked as a rose farmer near their first home in Rouse Hill, before they moved to Possum Brush and opened a family real estate business in Nabiac.
“They have always been wonderful parents, and have always supported and been there for each other.” daughter Michiel said.
“I think their secret to a happy marriage is that they are just the best of friends, they do everything together.”
Fred and Pat are still going strong, and are planning a weekend in the Hunter vineyards to celebrate their 60 years of happy marriage.
