More than 1800 hectares of bushland and scrub have been burnt in a large bush fire burning to the east of Nabiac and north of Tuncurry.

The fire has been burning for more than a week, and on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 13 a spot fire threatened properties near Tuncurry during warm and windy conditions.
Overnight, conditions have eased and there is no immediate threat to properties.
However, the fire is not yet contained. Crews will be working throughout today (September 14) to fully contain the fire.
The Lakes Way is open, however motorists are advised to take care as firefighters may be working from the road.
The Rural Fire Services (RFS) has advised residents in the Racecourse Estate or North Tuncurry, continue to monitor the situation and ensure know what you will do if conditions change.

Residents are also urged to be prepared. There are a number of awareness sessions around the region on Get Ready Weekend.
