The showpiece Gold Cup was taken out by Who Is Game, ridden by Grant Buckley and trained by Taree’s Michael Byers.
Douro, ridden by Adrian Layt and trained by Tuncurry’s Terry Evans, claimed second in the race.
Olympic Academy, ridden by Louise Day and trained by Kris Lees, placed third.
The cup was Grant Buckley’s second win of the day, after he rode Gold Skye to victory in the Schweppes Maiden Handicap. Taree’s Bob Milligan was the trainer.
Waimea Bay won the Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club Maiden Plate while He’s Pretty Cool took out the Hawkesbury Race Club and Motel Benchmark 53 Handicap.
Red Braids, Lakshme, Labrooke and Face Like Thunder were the other winners of the remaining races.
Newcastle trainer Kris Lees scored a trifecta of wins across the day in races two, six and eight.
The ‘Fashions on the Field’ saw some spectacular new season outfits.
Shelley Curtz was named the most elegant lady while Bernard Pearson was the best dressed man.
David and Rowena Little won the best dressed couple and the best millenary went to Taliah Richardson.
The club was pleased to have recorded a turnover of more than $1.4 million dollars for the day.
The club’s next race meeting will be on December 11.
