Jasmine has competed in various national and international pageants over the last five years, but this one holds special relevance, as it provides a chance for her to give back to the community.
‘Depending on the pageant you enter you have the opportunity to raise funds for charities, volunteer at local events or organisations and just give back”, said Jasmine.
Through her 2017 Ms Continents Australia campaign, Jasmine will be supporting Teal Wings of Hope Ovarian Cancer.
‘I believe this is well known to many woman, and my hope is for it to also be known to men for from awareness of symptoms comes prevention, and hopefully one day a cure.’ she said.
After being awarded the title of Ms Continents Australia 2016, Jasmine was flown to Las Vegas, where she placed in the top ten on the world stage.
This year, she is hoping to defend her title and use her success to educate young women on the benefits of the Australian pageant system and how it can offer the opportunity to travel, increase confidence, and develop workplace and networking skills.
‘Competing in pageants has made me realise that you can offer so much more and be so much more if you choose to be a part of the right system’, she said.
‘Pageants have offered me a lot and opened pathways I never would have thought possible’.
The journey hasn’t always been an easy one, and Jasmine has had to overcome a lot to achieve her goals.
‘Every girl wants to be the best they can be, and achieve the goals they set themselves. For me to be able to do this I had to realise my inner strengths and weaknesses and push myself to surpass my weaknesses. I believe I am who I am today because of these struggles, so my weaknesses also turned into my strengths’.
Jasmine will take part in the finals for the Ms Continents Australia pageant over the next few months, with a hope to represent Australia again in Las Vegas.
