Competing against 20 brigades, Tuncurry won first aid, and communications came second in turnout and knapsack, and third in tanker and handtool.
Their score also won them overall first visiting team.
The challenging events simulated typical incidents encountered by the RFS and ranged from dealing with heat exhaustion and cardiac arrest, to responding to a call out – dressing in fire gear and manning a tanker, all against the clock.
Tuncurry brigade captain, Michael Reeve, said the whole brigade was immensely proud of the six-member team.
“The result reflects the hard work the group has put in to extra training, and is a tribute to the team leader, deputy captain Catherine Baker,” he said.
The Tuncurry team includes the brigade’s youngest member, high school student , Maddie Baker. RFS group captain, Nathan Birchal, provided training support in the run up to the field day, and travelled to Maitland with the team.
Callum Leahy, Tim Croker, Stephen Surgy and Cooper Smeaton completed the team.
