In strong, windy and tough conditions Matt Sargeant, Tuncurry Beach clinched his fourth zone title of the year with a win in the champion of champion airs.
Sargeant and Peter Swan proved too tough and too consistent for all their opponents.
In their semifinal they played John Andrews and Allen Rose from Gloucester.
The first half of the game was very tight with scores locked at 9-9, with all players finding it hard to play consistent bowls in the conditions.
Swan and Sargeant pulled away in the second half to record a 26-17 win. In the other semifinal Gary Basham and Ashley Hinton, Taree West defeated John Bartyn and Shane Reed, Bulahdelah.
They established an early lead which they maintained to the end and ran out comfortable winners 24-11.
The final was again close (7-7) before Swan and Sargeant established a mini break of 4-5 shots which they kept for several ends, when they again stretched the lead further to 7-8 shots.
The pressure was now on Basham and Hinton to try and bridge the gap, which they were unable to do.
The final winning margin blowing out to 27-14.
Sargeant has the chance to make it five zone titles for the year with the champion of champion singles still to be played.
