I was shocked to read of the proposal to build a roundabout at the intersection of Point Road and Manning Street in Tuncurry right at the access for the main entry and exit to the bridge.

I am glad some residents are protesting as it will certainly cause chaos especially in the holiday season.
Would it not be a better plan to build the roundabout at the intersection of Kent and Manning streets?
Point Road would then have a left turn only but only a short trip back to Kent Street to access a roundabout back to the bridge.
This roundabout would have some breaks in traffic because of the pedestrian lights on Manning Street and traffic lights at South Street.
I call on the RMS project manager, Paul Galvin, to at least look at this option and publicly refute the suggestion if necessary.
It would also be a good idea to indicate the right hand turn only lane off Manning Street into Point Road, to start at that roundabout as this also causes congestion when visitors get stuck in the right hand turn lane but want to go over the bridge.
