Now in its eighth year, the assembly celebrates the academic achievements of the highest achieving students in Years 3–12 from across the local learning community of six feeder primary schools – Bungwahl, Nabiac, Hallidays Point, Forster, Tuncurry and Pacific Palms, and the three campuses of Great Lakes College, Tuncurry Campus (Years 7–10), Forster Campus (Years 7–10) and Senior Campus (Years 11-12).
More than 200 students were awarded at this prestigious event, each receiving a certificate of recognition in front of an audience that included parents and friends, teachers and school principals.
The event also showcased the musical talents of the Great Lakes Learning Community Band, which is made up of students from Years 3-12.
Tuncurry Public School principal and GLLC chairman, Tim Putland paid tribute to the students.
“Today we recognise and acknowledge the top academic achievements across all years from three to 12,” Mr Putland said.
“We have a culture of recognising sport and the arts, so we came up with the idea of acknowledging academic achievements,” he said.
