The State government has pledged $1 million towards the redevelopment of the aging structure.
Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead who made the announcement today, June 28 said the project would provide the club with modern facilities including an expanded function centre, new bar and kitchen and increased storage space.
“I welcome our government’s funding of this major renovation that will enable the club’s volunteers to better serve the community in the great work they do protecting beach-goers and saving lives,” he said.
“The project has been made possible through Liquor & Gaming NSW’s Clubgrants infrastructure funding which supports new and upgraded sport and recreation facilities in local communities across NSW.
“This much-needed upgrade of the clubhouse will be a wonderful asset for the Forster community for decades to come.
“The new building has been architecturally designed in keeping with the club’s iconic beachfront location.”
Mr Bromhead said the new modern facilities will help Forster Surf Lifesaving Club retain and attract members.
“Expanded storage areas will mean all the club’s equipment can be kept in a single location, while the new and expanded function room will allow the club to run more fund-raising activities.”
