The day began in the usual festive spirit of camaraderie that play at Krambach and in the coldest early morning conditions experienced this winter or so it seemed.
The day soon warmed up and so too did the golf.
The winner of the women’s event was Rhonda Nightingale with 36 points and runner-up was Moya Harris (32). In the men’s event Matt Morris with a more than creditable 43 points won the day; runner up was Trevor Cheers (41) and in third place was club president Rick Paff (39) on a countback.
A feature of the presentation after the event was the presence of Tom Paterson, Roger Lynch and Brian Lynch.
It was Tom’s dad George and the Lynch brothers’ dad Tom who were the geniuses behind the creation of the club 65 years ago.
It was great to see the second generation of the club’s founders there; their presence was much appreciated.
All golfers in the district and well beyond will miss one of our great local clubs.
The club formed in 1952 by founding members, George Paterson, Tom Lynch, Jack Bidner, Dudley Paterson, Max Ross and Mack McKinnon. They developed the course on land lent to the club by owner George Paterson. Tom Lynch, the first club president, provided the clubhouse building from a property in Belbora which sits on land owned by the club.
Vale Royal Krambach!
