The three books that will be up for discussion will be 'All the Light We Cannot See’ by Anthony Doerr, 'The Handmaid’s Tale’ by Margaret Atwood and 'The Gift of Rain’ by Tan Twan Eng.
“We have received positive feedback on the book selection affirming the process of taking recommendations from book lovers,” said GLEF secretary Mary Browne.
The is the third Big Book event, which have now hosted up to 21 volunteer panellists.
“Each has brought interesting, challenging and engaging perspectives to the novels,” Mary said.
“Most were nervous; all were up for the challenge; all conquered their nerves to contribute to great discussion. We are now looking to form three panels (of three readers each), one for each book, for this year’s event. Female, male, young and old - hopefully a perfect balance!
“Did you absolutely love (or hate) one of the novels? Why not join a panel to voice your views and enrich the discussion.”
Mary said the panellists are what helps make the event a success.
“The organisers support our panellists in the months prior to the event so they feel confident as a panelist.”
