Fairfax Media: Congratulations on being finalists at the MidCoast Business Awards, how long has the business been operating?
JTCA: The practice was established in the early 1950’s and moved to the current Taree premises in 1991. During this time the practice has restructured many times with various partners and most recently in July 2014 when Adam Johnson joined the practice.
FM: What is the purpose of your business?
JTCA: Johnson & Thompson Chartered Accountants provide businesses and individuals with the highest quality accounting, tax planning and business advisory services.
FM: What does this nomination mean to the business?
JTCA: As professional accountants we do not like to blow our own trumpet and we play down our successes. One of the best parts of entering an awards program is that it forces us to focus on all our firms success, showing off what makes us great – our staff.
FM: How many staff members do you have and what do they do?
JTCA: We have 15 staff members consisting of two partners, 10 accounting staff (including two bookkeepers), a superannuation auditor and two administrative staff members.
FM: What is the secret to your success?
JTCA: We encourage our clients to embrace modern world and to take advantage of the technologies of the future. By embracing these technologies we are able to bring the world to the MidCoast. Learning about what is happening in the accounting and business landscapes for the future and bringing them back to our clients and the community.
FM: What are the future directions or goals for your business?
Our objective is to live by our moto “Big firm capabilities, small firm personality” and to continue to be the most highly respected professional firm in the region.
