A gala dinner like no other is how the local business community described the MidCoast Business awards held at Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club on May 5.

The Ridge, based in beautiful Gloucester, owned by Dan and Judith Buckley received highly commended in Excellence in Tourism & Hospitality. Fairfax Media caught up with Dan to ask a few questions about his business.

FM: Dan, how long has your business been operating and what is the purpose of your business? 

DB: Since 2010 we’ve been offering luxury holiday rentals, activity packages and small business conferencing from our base in Gloucester.

FM: What does this nomination mean to you and your business?

DB: The Ridge’s recognition in the Business’ Awards will enhance visibility of The Ridge and the Gloucester region in general as a great tourism destination.

FM: What is the secret to your success?

DB: Major assets towards success are the wonderful location on the 100 acre rural property with stunning panoramic rural and bushland views across the Barrington River valley, Gloucester township and the hills and mountains beyond.

The architect designed five bedroom house is also a major factor.

The house features passive solar design, energy efficient fabrication products, stand-alone solar power system and it is water self-sufficient.
