AT 11.30pm on Sunday, May 14, police received a number of calls regarding a motor vehicle accident on Crescent Avenue, Taree.
Police allege a 36-year-old female driver from Forster lost control and struck a number of trees along the nature strip, causing one of the trees to snap.
The vehicle allegedly continued, jumping the gutter and hitting fencing and a power pole.
The force of the impact caused a power outage for properties within a two kilometre radius of the location.
People in the area came to offer assistance.
Police allege the driver attempted to run from the scene however witnesses identified her to police.
The driver was taken to Manning Hospital for blood testing and police will await the results of that blood test before any charges are laid.
