A baby dolphin stranded in shallow waters in the Mandurah Estuary has been returned to deeper waters in the hopes its calls will attract its mother to find it again.

Volunteers worked to keep the dolphin wet and cool for four hours while a plan was made to try and find its mother to allow the distressed animal to be freed.
Concerns were held the calf would not survive alone.
The ABC News reported the dolphin was found by a member of the public unsuccessfully trying to free itself around 6am.
