Ashley and her husband moved to Coomba Bay approximately 12 months ago and late last year she filmed two large red-bellied black snakes tangled in what appeared to be some kind of aggressive encounter.
She later showed the footage to an expert at Australia Zoo who confirmed it was two males fighting and not a mating ritual.
“When they fight they try to raise their head higher than the other one and kind of push the other one’s head down.”
Ashley and her husband watched in amazement as the tussle went on for over 40 minutes and she caught some of it on camera.

For three months prior to filming the incredible scene, they had been ‘living with’ two large red-bellied black snakes.
“They would often be right outside the back door on the way to the pool but it got to the stage the grandkids didn’t want to visit.”
She has six grandchildren who would normally love to come and visit the 10-acre property and play in the pool.
The fighting scene was the last straw in many ways and she called in an experienced neighbour to come and relocate the snakes.
Ashley has since purchased solar snake repellents that use vibrations to keep snakes away and she says it is working...so far.
