The 17 sailors were sailing Force 24 yachts with four crew and an instructor.
A short man overboard drill followed by some upskilling in sailing yachts before the junior sailors were set loose on the racetrack competing against each other for bragging rights in the inner harbour of Newcastle.
Weather conditions were perfect for the sailors with the sun making an appearance throughout four hours of sailing and wind at a very pleasant 10-15 knots of breeze giving the sailors the opportunity to put their new found skills to the test.
GLSC Commodore, Bill Stokes said he was delighted to see the junior sailors being given the opportunity to try new environments, boats and skills whilst still sailing with their mates from GLSC.
As the sailing season draws to a close, GLSC has one more junior sailing weekend on April 6 back at Wallis Lakes.
