In what is sure to be a tough game for the whole team but especially for new recruit Andy Paynter ashe takes on his former team-mates at Gloucester.
With opening points on the line, old friendships will be forgotten for at least 80 minutes.
Coach Lee Sullivan, together with assistant coaches Jim Wilson and Paul De Szell, have been working hard throughout the preseason with just under 30 players signing up and working hard at training and at trial games in the lead up to the 2017 season.
Sullivan said: “It has been great to see the level of commitment our boys have put up in the preseason, this is the 10th year for the club and that means a lot to the Wallamba community and the players in what we plan to be the year of the bull.”
This weekend will also see the debut of former Ratz player and now assistant coach and Bulls player Paul De Szell, as well as James Hanford who will fill out the back line for the Bulls.
The Wallamba Bulls have gone from strength to strength over the last 10 years and that is only set to continue with Mid Coast Council providing generous support to the upgrade of Aub Ferris Oval lighting to enable night games to be played for the first time at the Bulls home ground.
Arthur Chapman, Bulls president was delighted with the upgrade as it “allows us to introduce the Bulls and rugby to another group of supporters who can’t necessarily make it to an afternoon game, it will be a really special game when they play under lights for the first time.”
Local businesses have also been keen to join in the celebration of the Bulls 10th year with major sponsors such as Great Lakes Decorative Concrete and Nabiac Max Value Pharmacy amongst others returning for season 2017 as well as some new sponsors such as Sweet Temptations in Tuncurry.
Last season the Bulls were runners up to the Dolphins in the grand final leaving some unfinishedbusiness to attend to in this, the year of the Bull, the first step will be to ruffle a few Cockie feathers this weekend in Gloucester.
The Wallamba Bulls supporters’ bus will leave the Nabiac Hotel at 1.15pm on Saturday, April 1.
