The invitation follows the radio station’s success at the recent South Community Media Association annual conference and X Awards night.
Great Lakes FM once again demonstrated its standing in the industry walking away from the three day event in Wagga Wagga with a swag of certificates and awards.
“I was very proud to be able to represent Great Lakes FM and all our volunteers at the conference in person this year,” Mr Farr said.
”This is a national conference and there were record numbers of peole attending from community radio stations throughout Australia so the level of entries in the awards was very high.”
Mr Farr said Great Lakes FM had proved once again that was i a forced to be reckoned with.
The station managed a finals position in five of the 10 categories and winning two awards.
The X Awards have been described as being akin to the Logies but for community radio.
“And, when you consider that there were so many stations competing that’s not a bad effort
“I think it is a reflection of the professionalsim and commitment shown by all our volunteers here at Great Lakes FM.”
The catagories Great Lakes FM was a finalist in:
- Best in-house production of a non music program – Up over to down under, read by Trish Cavanagh and Andrew Farr.
- Best in-house production of a music program – Tuesday drive with JD.
- Best interview – Bandintexas interview by ‘Crazy’ Dave Saul – winner
- Best outside broadcast – Bulahdelah show, hosted by Kevin Walsh – winner
- Best in-house production of a station sweeper – Your favourite community radio station by Andrew Farr.
The trophies and finalists certificates are proudly on display in the foyer of the Tuncurry base office.
