Disney’s animated classic Beauty and the Beast is now a live action film that refashions the characters from the tale for a contemporary audience. An enchantress disguised as a beggar arrives at a ball and offers an enchanted rose to a young prince (Dan Stevens) in return for shelter from a storm. When he refuses she transforms him into a beast, the servants into inanimate objects, and erases the castle's memories from its inhabitants.

To break the spell, the prince can only be freed by true love before the rose's last petal falls. If he fails, he will remain a beast forever. The young prince, in what may be his only opportunity, meets intelligent, beautiful and independent Belle (Emma Watson), the only human girl to visit the castle since it was enchanted. The beast imprisons her in his castle, but despite all, she learns to look beyond the beast’s hideous exterior, to recognise the kind heart and soul of the true prince that lives inside.
