United won the toss and elected to bat.
United got off to a flying start hitting 20 runs off the first two overs.
Seb Strong started to apply the brakes and slowed the United run rate to six per over.
Things were looking grim before Nick Montague dived two metres to his left onto a powerfully hit on-drive from big hitting Ryan Griffin.
Monty picked up and spun around in the one motion firing the ball back to Keeper Scott Orchard to remove the bails in a huge play befitting the BBL.
United then put on a second wicket partnership of 60 runs before seasoned performer Allan May created his own piece of “Mayhem”, bowling out both the Avery brothers to finish with 2/37 off eight overs.
May had a great bowling partner in James McBride who bowl with pace and accuracy to be 0/22 off eight overs in support.
Captain Julius Schilpzand in a master stroke brought the Monty on to bowl his famous dart balls.
This was the turning point in a United innings that promised so much as the Monty let loose on the opposition.
Wickets fell in his seond, third, fourth, sixth and eighth overs with the Monty finishing on 5/26 off eight overs that included two maidens.
The Monty has advised that he will be available for ball signing at the Palms Palms Bottolo during the week.
Cameron Thies now the new tail end specialist claimed the final two wickets to finish on 2/14. It was a great effort from the Lakes bowling attack and fielders to restrict United to 10/177.
Lakes openers got off to a steady start at four runs per over before Nathan Ballard was caught behind with the score at 1/28.
That brought Alan May to the crease who relished the pressure and together with Scott Orchard built a dominant 101 run partnership for the second wicket.
May cracked five fours on his way to 32 before getting a controversial LBW decision, but he took it in his stride leaving the innings in the safe hands of Scott Orchard.
Matt Solway was next out in the middle, and got a front row seat in an entertaining display of power hitting as orchard hit 85 runs consisting of nine fours and three sixes.
Orchard left Lakes in a good position at 3/155. Solway left not long after for nine trying to emulate his partner.
That left James McBride and the Monty to close out the win.
Out to show his batting prowess McBride set about destroying the best pace bowling United had to offer.
Hitting ones and twos is something that wasn’t on his match plan.
Once United brought back on their “go to” bowler in Ken Middlebrook, young McBride decided it was time to finish the game and punished five balls to the boundary for fours in the blink of an eye, it was privilege to watch.
Lakes wrapped up the match at 4/170.
Man of the match was a difficult decision but Nick Montague gets the points with his 5/26 and the run out of Griffin after he was starting to get his eye in was so important.
Lakes now face Hallidays Point at Lake Street in a huge test of form.
