Crews were vying for more than $8000 in prizemoney in the popular competition which was the final hit-out before the NSW State Championships.
Conditions at Elizabeth Beach were perfec with local crews from Pacific Palms, Cape Hawke and Forster performing strongly against some of the best crews in Australia.
Once again the under 19-year’s Robbo’s Race was a hotly contested affair.
The event holds a special place in the heart of Pacific Palms Club members.
It was touching to have Robbo attend the presentation and present the medals to the under 19-year placegetters.
Robbo’s father Steve Scott also spoke passionately about the impact that one punch can have.
Another event which is close to the hearts of Pacific Palms and the surf boat rowing fraternity is the Tim Knight Memorial Club relay which was won this year by Collaroy with Palm Beach and Mona Vale placing second and third.
Thanks to all the crews who competed, the officials, water safety and the wonderful members of Pacific Palms SLSC who worked so hard to make the event possible.
Battle of the Boats brings more than 1000 visitors to Pacific Palms annually and is a terrific boost for the local economy.
Also a huge thank you to our event sponsors: Pacific Palms Holidays, Bluey’s Retreat, Bluey’s Cellars and Deli, NBN News, the Pacific Palms Recreation Club, JR Richards Waste and Recycling Services, Miller’s Turf and Planet Fitness.
