Have you been toying with the idea of becoming a volunteer?
MidCoast Council’s ageing and disability services team is hosting a volunteer information session at Forster library on Monday, March 6 from 10am.
The team will be on hand to explain what’s involved in becoming a volunteer, answer any questions and also provide a delicious morning tea, so you’ll also have the opportunity to mingle with other like-minded people.
MidCoast Council ageing and disability services co-ordinator, Liz Green, is urging those who might be interested to come along and find out more.
“Our volunteers are a fantastic bunch of people who help us provide social support, transport, companionship, shopping assistance and so much more for our clients,” Ms Green said.
“We’re always on the lookout for others who would like to join the team, so we invite you to come along and have a chat with us.”
For those who are still ‘on the fence’, a recent study showed that volunteers are happier, healthier, sleep better and often get ‘helper’s high’ which is a powerful emotional feeling experienced when helping others.
