Looking back at December, a happy group of ladies focused on Christmas fun at the Pacific Palms Recreation Club where a great two course meal was served.
This was an enjoyable night of View club camaraderie and socialising.
The highlight was the Christmas raffle, which will now become an annual Christmas event.
All the goodies in the hampers were donated by members making three brimming prizes of Christmas goodies.
On December 10 we hosted the 2016 Annual View Reflection Service for NK01 Zone at the historic Green Cathedral.
The Green Cathedral was a unique setting for the service, located on the shores of stunning Wallis Lakes and under the beautiful old palm trees.
It was a stunning morning with the lake glistening and the sun peeping through the palms.
Our theme for the service was Summer by the Sea.
It was wonderful to see many familiar and new faces join us in this exceptional setting.
The clubs in our zone, NK01 are Forster Tuncurry Day VIEW, Forster Tuncurry Evening VIEW, Taree Day VIEW, Gloucester Day VIEW, Great Lakes Evening VIEW, Harrington Evening VIEW and Pacific Palms Evening VIEW.
The morning included fabulous singing by the Pacific Palms Primary School choir, a sand ceremony and presentations from key members.
The sand ceremony involved each club president pouring a jar of different coloured sand into a larger jar symbolising that together we make a significant difference.
The jar of blended sand was then presented to national councillor, Liz Doorey.
Morning tea was served after the service which gave us a chance to mingle and enjoy the company of those who attended.
During morning tea our Christmas cake was cut by past national vice-president, June Greentree and Pacific Palms president Kelly Herbert.
We were delighted to have the privilege of hosting this important event for 2016 in our beautiful area and wish to thank all the visitors who attended from the NK01 zone view clubs and special thanks to our school choir who came along happily on a Saturday morning.
In January we held our annual book sale over two weekends.
Community members donated books and magazines and members gave their time to run this great event which is very popular with holiday makers.
We raised more than $250 for our Learning for Life program from the sale of the books. A great start to 2017 fundraising.
Our year started with a welcome social night on February 1 followed by our AGM in late February.
We are hoping to again see all committee positions filled.
New members are always welcome. If you live in the Pacific Palms area and are interested in joining or learning more about View please contact me by email to lorrainewafer@hotmail.com
